No lovies, you are not having flashback and it isn’t just a case of the Mondays, I’m doing a major re-mix.  I have worn these shoes, this skirt, this vest and this hairstyle to death!  I think most of us like to wear our clothes more than once, so I’m betting this will be a good post.  If you want to recreate this look, but are on a serious budget, might I suggest a DYI denim vest!?!  Thrift a jacket that you like and then just make a vest out of it by cutting off the sleeves!  I’m assuming you already have a skirt and a blouse.  I really hope the old proverb about assuming is not true in this case…

P.S. Happy Monday Everyone!  The countdown to seeing my favorite band in the universe, Pearl Jam, begins!  5 days

Fuschia Skirt Suit

There’s only so much time left for me to wear my mullet suits until it is too cold, so I’m doing as many versions of them as I can.  Soon, the business on top and party on bottom will be replaced by business only attire, oh the cold!  I’m not a cold weather person at all.  In fact, 65 degrees is about as cold as I like to go.  You know that commercial for seasonal depression where the woman lies on the couch in her robe until the following spring while it flashes forwarded to everyone else cheerfully going about their lives through fall and winter?  Yeah, that’s me. Thankfully, I live in the South, so I can’t complain too much compared to my relatives up north where it can be 30 degrees and below.  For now, I’m basking in the sun and enjoying my mullet suits.  See my last version here.  What items are you trying to get use out of before fall/winter?

TIP:  Adding a different shoe will completely change this look.  Flats and sandals keep it casual, while a heel will dress this look up for night-time dinner/drinks.

If anyone finds a money tree, please let me know!  I really wanted the J. Crew collection photo floral skirt, see it here, but it is way out of my price range at a whopping $600!  In fact a lot of items from their fall collection were out of my price range forcing me to look elsewhere for less expensive doppelgängers of the real items I wanted (first world problems, I know).  Has anyone else notice this upwards price movement at J.Crew?  They have always been on the pricier side and I know I’ve read articles relaying that they were trying to move toward “collection” type pieces, but I guess I just didn’t want to believe it.  I’m starting to feel like I’m being shoved out as a customer there.  More power to you if you can afford the collection wear, but I am an avid bargain shopper.  I liked buying the “mistakes,” as Mickey Drexler would like to call the sale items, but even those are getting pricier and pricier.  It’s a good thing stores like H&M are there to pick up the pieces!  Is J.Crew leaving the “little guys” in the dust and moving on to the high-end customers?  Do you feel abandoned?

P.S.  Thanks for letting me rant and rave today and for stopping by!
